In collaboration with a partner, we were tasked to design an office space for the digital marketing company, CONNECT. CONNECT is primarily an online company due to the pandemic, however, decided to open an office to provide its employees with a hybrid working experience. The scope of the project was to integrate WELL standards along with the new standards of workplace design into the 5th and 6th floors of a New York City building located on the High Line.
The inspiration for the design was fueled by the playful metaphor, "be a fruitloop in a world full of cheerios". Pulling out the individuality, playfulness, and vibrancy of this statement and translating these fundamentals into the design was imperative. We wanted the space to provide its employees with the motivation to exceed their goals and be as innovative and collaborative as they wanted. This was accomplished by creating a healthy and energetic work environment. Workstations are strategically placed on the perimeter for continual access to sunlight, collaboration and private zones are scattered through the plan to provide access to all types of work modes, and a large communal space for employees to socialize. Saturated color blocking is used as a wayfinding tool and also resembles the shape of the fruit loop. At CONNECT, employees are provided a space to work in a happy and healthy environment where they are cared for.
